About Us

We’re Ofelia and Eric Lichtenheld, and our family farm sits in the mountains of Campo, about an hour east of San Diego — 200 acres of backcountry, most of it still wild. We hatch our own chicks, and our heritage-breed hens live outdoors year-round in tree-shaded, quarter-acre corrals; about half of them sleep in the trees. We raise both certified organic and conventional flocks, and the eggs we bring to Foodshed are our conventional ones. Both flocks get the same Beyond Regenerative care — same trees, same daily collection, no medicated feed, no antibiotics. We’re one of only two USDA-certified organic egg farms in San Diego County that are also state-registered egg handlers (USDA and CDFA records, October 2026). Our poultry name on our egg cartons is The OvaAchievers Poultry Farm — that’s us. We grow what we sell. ¿Preguntas sobre nuestros huevos? Escríbanos en español o en inglés.

Practices

Beyond Regenerative is our name for closing every loop we can. Our hens live outdoors year-round, scratching under the trees; their manure is composted and spread under our pomegranate, jujube and olive trees; and we use no synthetic weed killers — we do it the hard way with hand tools. We are USDA certified organic through Oregon Tilth for both crops and livestock, and no flock on the farm, organic or conventional, gets medicated feed or antibiotics. No male chick is thrown away: the roosters from our hatchery grow up outdoors and become the heritage roasters we sell. The whole farm is 100% solar — off-grid, with no grid connection anywhere on the place — and everything drinks from one well, so we favor crops built for dry country: agave, prickly pear, olives, pomegranates. Eggs are collected every day, washed and sized in our own state-registered egg room, and every carton carries its pack date, a 30-day sell-by and a lot code back to the house it came from.
